February 14th Update


Hey there!  Happy new year everyone!
I was hoping to have something special to announce in January, but unfortunately unforeseen delays have pushed things back so much so that I might as well talk about the next demo update first.

A LOT has changed behind the scenes, so let's talk about it one thing at a time. 

1) Red's bust expressions have all been COMPLETELY redrawn.  It was something I was never super satisfied with and needed to update for a while.  On top of that several new expressions were added.  And even more importantly, new outfits will be present in the next update as well.  There's a casual hoodie, a sailorsuit and a bunnysuit, and your bust and in game sprite will reflect these outfits properly, including whatever armor damage each individual outfit has.  Yes you read that right.  Armor is no longer a one stat carries all.  Each outfit will have its own armor values and take damage and be restored separately.  On top of that sewing items have been updated, with the new "Sewing Needle" being cheaper and easier to find but restoring less armor, and the existing "Sewing Kit" being buffed but becoming rarer.  Costumes however will NOT be reflected in battle.  In the final game, yes, they will.  But for now its JUST the character bust.  If I'm being honest the battle busts in general are still subject to change as I'm not 100% satisfied with what I've got.  But that's a problem for another day.

2) The world is being expanded! This will be the first version of the game since the early alphas and betas to go beyond the Bridge sequence! I'm opening the flood gates to the second main hub zone.  That means more enemies, more events, more secret paths, more everything!  Far too much for me to reasonably test all by myself so I hope you wont mind helping me look for bugs and errors lol. But wait, there's more!

3) Combat 2.0! A dreaded phrase if you followed DMC: POC but hopefully my version wont be so hated haha.  Combat has been completely overhauled.  Powerful gun spam is no longer a strategy to coast through the game I'm sorry.  Instead bullets are now a resource that you'll have to help Red manage.  Guns are buffed but ammo is scarce, use it as you see fit!  In general several new skills have been added to the game, including a whole list of elemental attacks and magic spells!  What's more elements are going to fully factor into combat with enemies taking more or less damage from certain elements.  Annnnnd just to spice things up, I'm planning on allowing the player to get their hands on both a playable Hati and a playable Witch.  

But yeah, I hope no one took my lack of updates for a lack of progress.  Honestly I've been working super hard on things and trying to make the game surpass even my own expectations.  I really want to make something fun and maybe even a little challenging.  And of course sexy!   Hopefully this month will come with another big announcement as well.  The one that didn't quite make it to January.  Big things are on the horizon so please look forward to the update in two days!
