What Should I Play? Demo or Playable Teaser

Project Red's Playable Teaser is officially launched!

You can view prior devlogs for specifics of what new content exists in the PT but I'd like to break down the difference between the demo and PT for those unsure what to download.

In short each build offers a very different experience.  The most important thing is if you want to experience as much of the story as possible, or if you want to experience a smaller more accurate section of what the final game is meant to play like.

The Demo Includes:

  • The first 5 chapters of the game to play through
  • Outdated Level Design
  • Placeholder maps
  • Outdated Enemies
  • Outdated combat
  • Outdated Mechanics
  • All or Nothing approach to NSFW content

The PT includes:

  • Chapter 3 and most of chapter 4
  • A heavy focus on showing the games combat and mechanics
  • finalized level design
  • finalized maps
  • A whole ton more enemies
  • The updated combat system and related systems
  • Updated mechanics like jumping and dashing
  • Customizable content controls for NSFW features

Each version has its pros and cons.  There will be a demo that fits neatly between these two, covering Chapters 1--4 closer to release but for now I just wanted to give everyone a little extra while they wait on the full game to come together.  It's been a bit of a rough time in this space these last couple of months so consider this my thank you for your continued support.

... I have read in one of your posts(Forgot which one) about a demo that'll be compatible with the official game, I assume that it is the 1-4 demo that you mentioned at the end of the post

Yes.  That should be the next demo (aside from updates to the current PT to fix issues).  I don't expect it to be out until November or perhaps in time for Halloween if I really push myself.

Are there any differences with NSFW content between the two versions? Like, does one version have more NSFW content or is the NSFW content accessed differently in each version? If there are some differences, would I have to download and play both versions to experience all of the NSFW content or can I just download one version?

So the old demo has more NSFW content by virtue of covering more chapters overall.  There's no actual difference to the contents themselves though beyond the ability to more precisely control what you can view in a given playthrough.
So to be more specific, the demo features one setting that either enables all nsfw content or removes all of it.  The Playable Teaser allows you to choose between presets or fully decide exactly what you want to see. So specific things can be shut off so you won't encounter them if you don't want to while still including the NSFW material you would like to see.  Aside from that the actual scenes are the same and accessed in the same way across the two builds.
I would say NSFW qualifies the same as story.  If that's the main thing you're looking to check out I would suggest playing the demo over the playable teaser.  However if there's specific fetish content you want to avoid, the PT can allow you to do that in trade off for not having chapter 1, 2, and 5.  Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. And yeah, that helps. I just wasn't sure if the new PT version would have new/more NSFW content not only because it's a newer version but also because you mentioned it had more enemies.

Yeah the enemies in Project Red aren't a big contributor to the NSFW content unlike most games.  Overall the PT is more focused on combat and movement updates.

I'm blowing up from the hype rn, sadly can't hop on it immediately cause Wifi lowkey kinda sucks where I am right now, but I'm absolutely downloading as soon as possible.

Haha, I appreciate the enthusiasm!  Hope you enjoy when you get the chance to play!
